Differences in genetic and environmental influences on the human development
There have been debates over the relative influence of genetic factors versus environmental influences in determining how an individual develops. Development consists of activities that develop a person’s capabilities and potential. There is importance in viewing this matter because individual development impacts quality of life, dreams and aspirations, and employment. The manner in which environmental factors influence genetic makes environmental factors have a bigger role in a person’s development
Through research, the authors of psychiatric and brain understanding background found that brain structure and function are created through complex interaction, that within time are subject to change. Published on Human brain Mapp, PubMed in 2007.The authors argue within these analyses, that studies of the effects of specific genes or environmental influences on brain structure may be influenced by the age of the population being observed. Such evidence includes differences between genetics and age. The author’s analysis clarifies the observation that in older and earlier development of an individual brain, genetic influences play a bigger role. Such that the brain regions which developed earlier showed “stronger genetic influences earlier.” While later regions development associated with cognitive functions showed a “greater influence of genetics has an individual matured.”
However, when complexity of the research arose, understanding that “heritability values in these areas were affected by development” as well. To clarify genetic influences, place a rule when the brain is initially developed and when it is maturing. Environmental factors influenced how genetic factors matured and how they were expressed. The authors use the strategy of analysis of reliable information to elaborate their purpose on genetic factors versus environmental influences on brain structure. In addition, the usage of a complex analytical tone with their audience of educated background and a simple tone to clarify his understanding for whom his ideas interest.
In conclusion, both genetic and environmental factors can influence a person’s brain. Genetic factors set the limitation which environmental differences decide the concluding result. For this reason environmental factors have a bigger role in determining how an individual develops.
